How we hire
How candidates are matched, interviewed by practitioners, and assessed against our career levels.
Owner: HR Executive · Last reviewed: · Next review: 28 April 2027
We hire people who can do the work and who fit how we work. Candidates meet a recruiter first and then the people they would work alongside.
Two interviews
- 1
Matching interview
Talent acquisition checks that the role, expectations and values fit on both sides.
- 2
Ability interview
Practitioners from the same discipline assess skills. Engineering candidates meet engineers and a technical lead. Designers meet senior designers. Testers meet testers.
Who interviews
| Role | Ability interview by |
|---|---|
| Software engineer | Engineers and a technical lead |
| Tester | Testers and a project manager |
| UX/UI designer | A senior designer |
| Project manager | Company leadership |
| Intern | Engineers for a written test, then an interview |
The career levels in the function matrix are the reference for the hiring decision, so the level offered matches the expectations of that level.
