The full story

Overview
A European renewable energy developer designs and builds solar parks, including floating and ground-mounted sites. It asked us to build a platform to monitor solar PV assets, similar to tools its competitors already use.
- Industry: Water & Energy
- Date: 2026
- Service: Product scoping, then product build and operation
- Focus: Solar PV monitoring
The challenge
Developers of solar parks need to see how their assets perform. Today, they often rely on third-party monitoring tools. Building their own platform can give them more control and a better fit, but it only makes sense if the first release is small enough to deliver and useful from day one.
What we set out to do
- Define a first release (MVP) that covers solar PV monitoring
- Agree what to build now and what to leave for later
- Offer a commercial model that suits the client
What we did
We started with an internal scoping brief for the solar PV MVP. We then proposed two ways to work together: a fixed price for the build followed by maintenance and operation, or a monthly subscription that includes the first version, with no upfront fee and billing that starts when the client accepts it.
Our approach follows our Delivery Playbook: we agree the problem and baseline first, and we agree each stage's exit check with the client.
Where it stands
This work is at the scoping and proposal stage. We are not publishing results yet. We will add them here when there is something measured and approved to share.
